Luke Houston Reed

LukeHoustonReed is one of three Luke Reeds that are singer-songwriters. "When The Cowboy & the Cattleman album came out 1992, I learned that there was a country singer-songwriter named Luke Reed from The Isle of Wight. He must have found me about the time I found him and must also be a gentleman because as soon as it was apparent that there were two Luke Reed singer-songwriters out there, he added his middle name Guy to become Luke Guy Reed. I'm mainly known as a cowboy/western swing singer and writer. I disappeared for a while, so until I became active musically and started writing again last year and putting my old albums out online, I was not aware of the younger Luke Reed. But now that I am, consider me Luke HoustonReed, all one word like my mama used to say it when I was in trouble--she always used my middle name.”

As a songwriter, his hard work has been rewarded along with major publishing company contracts and having his songs recorded by such country greats as Randy, Travis, George Strait, David Ball, Michael Martin Murphey, Red Steagall, and Gary Allen. His Grammy nominated album, Corridos, featured his original western songs with guest appearances by Waylon Jennings, Bonnie Bramlett, Bill Miller, and Riders in the Sky. He is also fortunate to have had a song nominated for a Tony for the song, "If You Mess with the Bull," co-written with Roger Brown.

After a hiatus, he is back writing and recording. "I have a home studio and a lot of instruments. I'm back to writing full time and can put the songs down while they are still fresh. My old compadre from Nashville, Sam Weedman, takes the tracks and adds drums and lots of vibe and mixes them, as well. My new single, ‘Dance with the Devil,’ is the first thing we've released that is completely homegrown."
